Take Me There: This is an old camp song that has stayed alive all these years. It has always been a better song "live" to me because it does have that sing-along camp feel. This song will forever remind us of summer camps in Texas and Florida, watching kids find the joy of worship with their lives.

The Glory of Your Name: This song was the catalyst for the whole The Purest Place record. This song is so much a part of who we are now, and it's only a few years old. I feel like it's what I've been singing for years though... it's the same theme that we can't get enough of... "the glory of God." We will never forget being able to view the movie The Passion of the Christ before it was released in theaters and just being in awe of Jesus' passion coming to life on a movie screen. This was a story I had heard all of my life, but it came at just the right time to revive me, to break my heart all over again and cause me to turn my eyes upon Jesus, acknowledging that He is the glory of God.

Grateful People/Bless the Lord: I remember very vividly writing this song in our apartment in Oklahoma City the first summer of our marriage. We were experiencing such a powerful move of God in our church and in our city at the time. The overflow of what God was doing around us many times turned into songs. This was a lyric from true renewal and a cry for the mercy of God over our lives. We chose this song as a way to reflect back and realize we've come full circle in so many ways. As we look back, we are overwhelmed with gratefulness for the journey, and for who God is! We made this a medley with "Bless the Lord" an old song I love, to be able to say, "He has done great things" and we cherish them as life-giving treasures! Chris Tomlin was our guest artist on this song. We specifically wanted Chris to join us on this because we knew that this would be a moment to lead us into worship at the end of the night. Chris has also known us since the "Sons & Daughters" days when this song was written so it was very symbolic for us to have him share it with us.

Gloria/Friend for Life: If there's one song that would sum up the heart of our ministry it would be "Gloria." James 1:18 says, "In his goodness He chose to make us his own children by giving us His true word. And we, out of all creation, became his choice possession." He inhabits the praises of His people and gives us the honor of being a vessel through which His glory can be revealed. I can't imagine this record without this song, I don't think there's a concert that has gone by without it. It is so precious to me. I remember this song coming to me in a dream years ago, and as soon as I woke up I said, "Nathan, grab the guitar!" The song "Friend for Life" is woven into "Gloria" as a medley. We thought it would be neat to have two of our favorites woven together. A lyric that I continue to breathe back to God over and over is in this song: "Come and ruin me with Your love so no other is enough." Whatever that continues to look like in my life, I pray that I'm only satisfied in His love. I've heard John Piper say, "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him," and that always reminds me of the prayer of this song.

Who Am I?: I remember writing this song in the car on the way home from Oklahoma after visiting my family. As I looked out on the sky that night, these words fell on me, and I couldn't get them out of my heart the whole drive home. Over the years this has been one of the sweetest songs for us to share in concert as I include thoughts about growing up in a pastor's home. My family has known our share of heart ache, failure and grace! This song is a true testimony of experiencing that grace and knowing you truly can't live without it. I'm so grateful to God that He has allowed us to "feel it in our own skin" through hardship. The challenges we faced only made us stronger, causing us to get a glimpse of His mercy in a whole new light. This was also the song that first connected us with our friends in Point of Grace when they recorded it in 1998. They join us on this song as a celebration of our friendship with them throughout the journey.

Glory Baby: This song was written about two miscarriages we experienced in 1999. If there's one song that we get mail about, it's this one. I can't even begin to describe what an unbelievable feeling it is to know that God has taken this song into the lives of so many hurting families. We realize that our creativity comes from God, and this song is the perfect example of His heart coming forth in a song to comfort His people. This song lyrically and melodically came together to create something so hopeful and life-giving that it's almost "happy." Really in hindsight it is joyful to sing because I know that His purposes have been fulfilled in us through these losses. He has been glorified, His people have learned to comfort each other, and we have seen the beauty of His heart through sorrow. My prayer is that this song would linger on and weave in and out of the hearts who need to hear it and have their hope restored. It is so amazing that the beauty of music can allow us to grieve, to hope, to love, to let go, and "cling to" all in one song... this was one of those songs for us.

More Than You'll Ever Know: This was such a simple song that was written for some friends that walked life with us in Houston, TX, a few in particular. We had no idea how this song would connect with so many and become a favorite. Occasionally we try to sneak through a Watermark concert without it (only because we've been singing it for years and it's proof that we've truly got country roots), but it never works-it always ends up a part of the evening followed by a "thank you" to the crowd for supporting us and "walking life" with us as we go. It has never ceased to amaze us to meet people after concerts and hear so many of them say that they have given this song to someone very special in their lives. That is the true power of music and how God can use it! We've heard that it has been played at weddings, graduations, birthday parties and even funerals... that's so incredible to us!

Arise and Be Comforted: This song was written while we were engaged to be married. We were leading worship together with Charlie Hall on a regular basis and traveling already quite a bit. Isaiah 40: 29-31 was a passage of scripture that I regularly turned to during that time and still do to this day: "He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." We have discovered through the years that even at a young age we can tire and grow faint. As we call upon the Lord He renews us and causes us to regain strength for the journey. This is a song of encouragement for the weary, a prayer to encourage and uplift the downcast to look to God for every need. We invited Shane and Shane to join us on this song because Shane Everett has been telling us since we met him back in 1998 that this particular song was an intricate part of his journey as a new believer in college. It was beautiful for us to worship together on this song, it was truly meaningful to us.

In the Garden (There Is None Like You): This is a hymn arrangement that we put together for the Max Lucado record called Next Door Savior. The arrangement included our friends Shane & Shane, and it ended up becoming a favorite with our Watermark audience. This is a beautiful old hymn, and of course "There Is None Like You" is one of our all time favorite worship choruses by Lenny Leblanc. We love collaborating with other artists-it's always a joy for us!

Knees to the Earth: This song will forever be more like a moment in time to me than an actual song, a very precious moment in time. As we gathered in Sherman, Texas with thousands of college students for One Day 2003, God gave me a very clear picture that morning of what He desires of His people. Nathan and I finished this song within the hour that we sang it on stage, and in that time, a last minute lyric brought it to life. The very last line that came to me for this song was "knees to the earth/I bow down to everything You are." As we walked onto the stage that morning, my breath was taken away as I looked out and saw all the students on their knees in the grass. God orchestrated a moment in time that day that clearly brought us to the posture of kneeling our lives before Him. I barely made it through the song as I was so taken back by the moving of His spirit over His people. We've shared this song much over the past few years, and I truly never tire of it. We've always prayed that God would be blessed by the work of our hands and the worship of our hearts, rather than asking Him to bless our work and our worship. This song keeps my heart in that place, desiring that Jesus would be blessed, loved and lifted high through our lives

The Purest Place: This song is a prayer that has really brought us to this place of transition. It has been a part of the journey of my heart, bringing me to a place of understanding my true calling and prioritizing my life again. This song was part of the breaking point for me, the place where I surrendered everything once again, my family, my gifts and my dreams.... The best analogy of "the purest place" I've found is when we visited Florida after some terrible hurricane damage. As we drove through the devastation and visited with the victims there, I kept seeing these huge oak trees down everywhere. These are not your ordinary, everyday trees, these things are massive and very old. It was so sad to see them on the ground. You would think these trees could withstand the test of time and any storm by the looks of them. As I visited with some of the people, I got in an interesting conversation with a woman there about Florida soil. Evidently, because of the sand their soil is very different than it is where I live in Tennessee, and it causes the root systems to grow very differently, forcing them to be much more shallow. This is why these huge, beautiful trees were down everywhere. I began to think about how consumed we get with our outer "tree" and what we look like to others. It clicked with me that day that I can get so consumed with what my "tree" looks like to everyone that I forget where God is really looking... at my root system! He cares about where I'm planted, if I'm nurturing a heart for Him and keeping myself imbedded in who He is. When I sing this song, I imagine myself as this tiny little tree, maybe even puny, but withstanding any storm of life because of where my roots are... deep into the purest place, the heart of God.

Captivate Us: This song is a representation of "Sons & Daughters," a ministry that was birthed years ago out of a long time friendship and ministry between Nathan and our good friend Charlie Hall. Charlie wrote this song many years ago, and we used to sing this in churches together. It was a song that Nathan and I always connected with and loved how it beautifully describes the life and presence of Jesus. There is something so indescribable that happens when the three of us sing together, a connection that goes beyond anything we've ever experienced with another artist. We don't get to worship with Charlie often, but truly treasure it deeply when we do!

Light of the World: This song was written for our home church during our study of John. Nathan and I led worship the Sunday that we began the series in John 1 and taught this song as part of letting that truth really sink into us that morning. We have continued to lead this song over time and decided to include it as a studio track on this record. It is a worship song that proclaims Jesus as the Light of the world, and the Word that became flesh as a promise to us. When I think of this song in light of all that is going on in our world, I cling to the hope that He reigns over us victorious! That "darkness will obey His voice" and that "weakness will in Him rejoice."

Elliana's Song: As this is our last official Watermark record, we could not let it come to a close without including a song for our little girl. Our son Noah has his own song ("Noah's Song" on Constant) as well as many guest vocal appearances from the time He was just a baby! This song for Elliana is very precious to me as it really expresses why we feel like we're in a new season of being more deliberate in our calling. My children need the best of me, not the leftovers, and I'll do what it takes to give them what they need. We're raising someday adults! I'm training a "baby woman" right now. I need to know, and I want her to know, that I've done everything possible to lead her and mentor her in this life. "Elliana" literally means "God has answered my prayers," and her name has come to life for me. Not only did He answer my prayer for a daughter and to know what that's like, but He's answering my prayers in how to reach out to her and shepherd her little heart. One night not long ago I was rocking her before bed, looking into her big blue eyes and whispering to her. I said, "You are our princess." She said, "I not a princess, I don't have a dress on." I smiled and said, "You don't need a dress, you are a princess even in your pajamas!" She smiled from ear to ear! It starts as early as now, speaking into her little heart, investing in the little "bank" of her soul. We didn't get to spend very much time on this song in the studio, we pretty much cut it "live"... it's very vulnerable! But, that's what this season has been like, and it feels right that the song was not completely polished and perfect. This song will forever be a reminder of the season that we took a "leap of faith" to make sure we don't miss a moment... I have a feeling we're going to blink and our "princess in pajamas" is going to be dancing in a wedding dress with her daddy.
